Maple Garlic Crispy Tofu

Instructions

Step 1:

Preheat air fryer or oven to 400 degrees. Press tofu to remove as much water as possible. (I like to use double frozen tofu. It adds chew and texture. Check out TikTok or Instagram for that video!)

Step 2:

Break the tofu into 1/2" - 1" pieces. Pour the soy sauce and oil over the top and toss. Then toss in the cornstarch until evenly coated.

Step 3:

Cook for 12 minutes in the air fryer until golden brown. In the oven, cook 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Step 4:

While it cooks, make the sauce. Add the oil and garlic in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Add in the remaining ingredients and cook for 3-4 minute until mixture is simmering and combined. Let cool 1-2 minutes to slightly thicken.

Step 5:

Once the tofu is finished, toss the pieces in the sauce. Serve immediately with the parsley or green onions as topping. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Tofu

2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 Tbsp oil
1 block firm tofu, pressed

 

Sauce

4 clove garlic, pressed
1 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 Tbsp white wine vinegar (any vinegar will work)

 

To Serve

Parsley or Green Onions, chopped
